H-IPL was one of almost 100 congregations and faith groups to be represented at Festival of Faiths 2018 .put on by the Center for Interfaith Cooperation. Even though it was quite windy and threatening on Sunday, October 14, rain there were over 1200 attendees.  The main stage featured events of all kinds representing different faith traditions.   There was a drumming circle, with drums provided, for participants.  And the food trucks had a variety of food and hot drinks. I loved my vegetarian burrito for lunch from the taco truck!

We had an opportunity to talk with lots of people about going green and greening their congregations. Does your congregation have a green team?  If not and you are interested I’d love to talk with you.  Email me.

We also talked about the relationship between their faith and why they care for creation.  Our table display featured statements on caring for creation from a number of different faiths.  Andy Horvath and Sharon Pike from St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianapolis and also members of their green team and the H-IPL affiliate Indy Green Congregations helped all afternoon. They shared tabling responsibilities with Amy Barnes, H-IPL program manager.  Andy also took these great pictures.

H-IPL believes in both faith and climate science and we work with houses of worship of all faiths in Indiana. I was pleased to have new brochures talking about H-IPLs threefold mission of Reducing our Carbon Footprint, Clean Energy and climate Justice so that all may have access to the benefits and not the problems related to the environment and energy production.

We had a great time and met lots of wonderful people at the Festival of Faiths 2018.  Festival of Faiths is an annual event put on each fall by the Center for Interfaith Cooperation in Indianapolis. If you didn’t have a chance to come this year, I strongly recommend you look for it next fall.  Join H-IPL and hundreds of others for the Festival of Faiths 2019 in downtown Indy.
